Deepak Chahar’s Venture into Entrepreneurship
Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by launching a fantasy gaming platform, Trade Fantasy Game, in March 2023. Following this, Chahar, known for his role as a bowler in the Chennai Super Kings team, ventured into the sportswear and cricket shoes market with DNINE Sports. Now, he gears up to expand his brand further by introducing a new range under DNINE Sports.
Diversifying the Sports Brand
Chahar aims to establish DNINE Sports as a comprehensive sports brand. After finding success with cricket shoes, the brand is now poised to enter the lucrative market of running shoes. According to Chahar, the demand for running shoes presents a significant opportunity. The launch of running shoes is scheduled to coincide with the end of the IPL season.
Chahar elaborated on his strategy, highlighting the importance of offline presence alongside online sales. Recognizing that customers often prefer to physically try on sports products for the right fit and comfort, DNINE Sports plans to establish brick-and-mortar stores. The brand has already established a strong distribution network covering 50 cities, with plans for further expansion.
Fantasy Gaming Endeavor
Reflecting on his fantasy gaming venture, Chahar acknowledged a slower-than-expected growth rate. Despite setting ambitious targets of 1 million downloads and revenue of ₹3.5 crore within the first year of launch, Trade Fantasy Game (TFG) faced challenges. However, with the upcoming IPL season, Chahar is optimistic about revitalizing the platform with new features and enhancements. To support this initiative, TFG has significantly increased its workforce from five to 40 team members.

DNINE Cricket Shoes
During the IPL matches, Deepak Chahar will showcase the latest version of DNINE cricket shoes featuring new spikes. Despite starting with modest goals, such as selling 10,000 pairs of cricket shoes, DNINE Sports managed to exceed expectations by selling over 6,000 pairs. Chahar emphasized that profitability will come with customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. He envisions DNINE Sports becoming the premier Indian sports brand, although he acknowledges that achieving this goal will require time and persistence.
